Grey Goose® and Soho House celebrate the extraordinary with three film premieres
Tonight (September 10), Grey Goose® vodka and Soho House Toronto hosted a triple feature celebrating the Canadian premiere of Wildlife starring Carey Mulligan, a private cast dinner for the premiere of Destroyer starring Nicole Kidman and the word premiere of The Death and Life of John F. Donovan starring Kit Harrington and Susan Sarandon.
To kick off the night, film supporters and friends gathered on the main floor of Soho House Toronto following the Wildlife mid-afternoon premiere screening and Q&A, which also marked actor Paul Dano’s directorial debut. Dano and the film’s lead actor, Carey Mulligan, chatted throughout the party as guests sipped Grey Goose cocktails.
Carey Mulligan arrived in a blue and white gown from the Chanel Resort 2019 collection and spent the night mingling with Dano and friends until her departure when she made a quick outfit change before heading off to the airport. Meanwhile, Dano stayed on, making his way around the room to chat with friends and guests in attendance.
Throughout the night, partygoers enjoyed a selection of passed bites including mini truffle grilled cheese sandwiches, Korean fried chicken bites, wood-oven pizzas and herbed ricotta tartlets
Destroyer Cast Dinner
Shortly after, the festivities moved upstairs for a private cast dinner for Destroyer in advance of the film’s premiere, featuring a bespoke menu designed by chef Ludo Lefebvre, the trailblazer of the pop-up dining scene in Los Angeles. In attendance: director, Karyn Kusama and cast members, Nicole Kidman, Sebastian Stan, Tatiana Maslany and Shamier Anderson.
Nicole arrived just before dinner was served, circling the room to say hello to fellow cast members and friends of the film. Guests enjoyed a menu of passed bites including crispy tapioca with passion fruit and parmesan, and delicious family-style entrees such as salmon with sorrel sauce and rice pilaf, market vegetable ratatouille as well as steak au poivre with frites.
Chef Ludo Lefebvre is an ongoing favourite of Grey Goose, and has partnered with the brand for film festival and elevated dining experiences across the globe.
The Death and Life of John F. Donovan After-Party
Capping off the evening was the after-party for the world premiere of The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, a film co-written, co-produced and directed by celebrated Canadian, Xavier Dolan, in his English-language debut. Dolan’s highly-anticipated drama centres around a young man’s calculated reassessment of his infamous, and ultimately disastrous, childhood correspondence with an American television star.
Joined at the after-party by his all-star cast including Kit Harington, Susan Sarandon, Thandie Newton, Emily Hampshire and Chris Zylka, Dolan was all smiles as he mingled with cast, crew and industry friends.
Kit arrived just as the party started, slipping in through the side door and worked the room, chatting with guests until the party ended. Shortly after, Susan arrived. After saying hello and snapping photos with fellow cast members, she claimed a cosy spot near the fireplace and later, with the party in full swing, Alexander Skarsgård and Netflix’s Scott Stuber arrived, mingling with industry friends.
Other notable guests in attendance included Dan Levy, Paris Hilton, Sasheer Zamata, DeWanda Wise and Y'lan Noel; Westworld actor Jeffrey Wright; actor Laz Alonso.
Soho House and French luxury brand Grey Goose vodka have co-hosted a series of film premiere events for the most buzz-worthy titles for ten concurrent years during the Toronto International Film Festival, as part of their ongoing support of the industry.
