The buzz around William H. Macy’s directorial debut in Rudderless had crowds of people standing outside the GREY GOOSE Blue Door at Sundance Film Festival straining to catch a glimpse of the film’s stars, which included Billy Crudup.
Guests with GREY GOOSE Le Fizz cocktails chatted enthusiastically about the film’s drama and had high praise for the sound track as a band appeared on the impromptu stage.
William H. Macy took the microphone and after a glowing introduction and hearty round of applause for Rudderless the ‘Rudderless Band’ were introduced, composed of the musicians featured in the storyline of the film.
The opening song titled, “I’m an A*%hole” had the crowd laughing, but soon rocking to the beat. Seeing Macy perform on-stage with the band was an unexpected thrill and the crowd stuck around demanding a second set. Following one more off-colour song, Macy and the band’s lead singer broke into a lullaby style rendition of “Surfer Girl” which punctuated the final festivities at the GREY GOOSE Blue Door. The talk in the room was about Macy’s talent, which has earned him two Emmy Awards, nine Emmy Award nominations, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
DJ Spider closed out the night with a few songs as the crowd reluctantly trickled out.
